Celestial Jellyfish | Falcon 9 Night Launch Greeting Card

Standing on the beach in the darkness, I watched a SpaceX Falcon 9 climb into the night sky, leaving behind a glowing plume that looked more like a celestial jellyfish than a rocket.

For a few unforgettable minutes, the Atlantic Ocean reflected the light while the sky put on a show that hardly seemed real. It's one of those moments that reminds you just how incredible our world—and the universe beyond it—can be.

I photographed this launch from Ponce Inlet, Florida, and every time I look at it, I'm reminded that wonder is never as far away as we think.
